Teaching Methods
Lecture-based Teaching
Students work in groups to solve problems, complete projects, or discuss topics, promoting teamwork and communication. Teachers use interactive activities to accomplish this type of teaching method.
Collaborative Learning
Our cooperating teacher facilitated a group activity aligned with the lesson topic. Students were instructed to work collaboratively within their groups to discuss and answer the given tasks. This method promoted active engagement, peer interaction, and a deeper understanding of the subject matter through shared learning experiences.
Differentiated Instruction
Learning Materials and Innovations
To make lessons more engaging and effective, my Cooperating teacher Mr Fikri used the following:
- Laptop and projector
- Whiteboard
- Students’ notebooks
- Printed handouts
- PowerPoint presentations
- Worksheets with varied levels of difficulty
- Real-life examples that are related to the topic
Assessment
Based on my class observation, students learning was assessed through:
- Formative assessments such as quizzes, classwork, oral questioning during lessons and homework checks
- Summative assessments: written tests, group presentations, and projects
- These assessments helped monitor student growth and provided feedback for improvement.
Curriculum
Teaching Plan
At SMP Al Azhar 14, the curriculum follows the Kurikulum Merdeka, a student-centered approach that promotes independent learning, creativity, and character development. This curriculum is aligned with national standards while incorporating Islamic values throughout the subjects.
Throughout the practicum, we encountered and adapted to new lesson plan formats. In the Philippines, our university primarily used the 4A's format as the standard framework for lesson planning. However, during our teaching experience in Indonesia ,we aligned ourselves with the specific lesson plan format used by the school. This required flexibility and a willingness to learn a new structure, which emphasized different teaching components and strategies. Adapting to this format not only broadened our perspective on instructional design but also helped us become more versatile in planning effective lessons that meet local educational standards.
- Present the learning objectives of the lesson
- Interactive activities using group work, games, before the proper discussions
- Step-by-step explanation of concepts with the used of PowerPoint presentation and examples
- Practice exercises through group work activity to reinforce learning
- Assisting the students while answering the tasks
- Let the students present and explain their answer
- Provide feedback to the students
- Assessment tools such as quizzes and worksheets
- Reflection time to review learning outcomes and address difficulties or clarifications
Teaching Practice
Procedures of Teaching
Before I administered a class discussion, Mr Fikri provided an example of their lesson plan as our guide in creating a lesson plan for our first teaching demonstration, and he gave us allotted time to finish it. Comparing the lesson plans I made in the DSSC, it is much simpler in SMP 14 since the focus is how the teaching is executed during class discussions and activities. In my internship in SMP 14, I teach in two different levels of Grade 7 and 9. In this teaching procedure I crafted when I teach in Grade 7 level with the topic of One-variable Linear Equation.
Before I start my discussion, I prepare my presentation first. First and foremost is to greet
